The City that Always Sleeps begins to awaken

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday approved a request from Sal's Pizza on Tremont Street to stay open until midnight.

Residents of a neighboring condo building objected to the extension from the current 10 p.m. closing time, claiming the new hours would attract the wrong element to the downtown street. The longer hours had the support of other downtown residents and neighboring businesses and institutions.

A very good move. I'm just glad the issue was settled before someone in the opposition used this clip as evidence of what can happen when a place called Sal's stays open too late:
