How come the media seem to think there are only five at-large Council candidates?

The Boston Bastard reminds reporters that it's not just Michael Flaherty and the Incumbents (Ed. note: Would make a good 60s cover band) - there are two other candidates running for one of the four open seats this year.

Andrew Ryan wrote a piece about Michael Flaherty's disappointing fundraising considering his mastery of it in previous races. Ryan also fell into the mold of not acknowledging Ryan and Dorcena, characterizing the race as one in which, "five well-known politicians are competing for four seats. One will lose."

District races endorsement meeting was fun last night
Even though an at-large meeting will be in October, only 2 of the 5 major at large were there-Aroyyo & Flaherty to court votes for the next meeting.

I've heard from some candidates that low campaign funds are compelling the candidates to be more strategic in their campaigning. Though I'm not sure it's wise strategically to sleep on Dorchester.

At the end of the day this race is between Arroyo & Pressley for the fourth spot. And with no love lost between the two of them things are going to get pretty heated after Labor Day.

Why weren't the at-large also-rans (Will Dorcena and Sean Ryan) at this meeting? They dont have their antenna up for one of Dorchester's most important civic organizations? No wonder they get left out of stories.

is whether the various candidates' mixers go with their decor.

This summer MassVOTE and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) have registered hundreds of new American citizens to vote. And now there is an opportunity to register thousands.

Tomorrow, August 31st, at 12 noon at the TD Garden nearly 3,000 foreign-born residents will become new Americans. We will be at this naturalization ceremony, ready to register them to vote.

Can you join me?

With so many new citizens at the ceremony we need as many volunteers as possible to make sure every person has an opportunity to register to vote.

Sign up here to join us at the event.
