It is telling that a community meeting to discuss a dog park drew much more interest than this candidate forum. Honestly, I don't know who to vote for or why I should. It seems to me the city councilors are most valuable when they provide constituent services--but really, I've found I got more done through CitizensConnect than by contacting my councilor.

Is this some kind of a joke:

"Murphy, known as a councilor who doesn't always go with what Mayor Thomas Menino wants, stressed how he fought Menino's plan to close 10 libraries."

I took a strong interest in this because my branch was one of the 4 that Menino and his hand-picked BPL board planned to close. From what I remember about this issue, Murphy did NOTHING to stop a single library from closing. (Correct me if I'm wrong fellow BPL crusaders.

What I saw and read was that Arroyo and Pressley did the heavy lifting — especially Arroyo, who pressed Amy Ryan, the BPL director, to explain why this had to happen. Yancey was good on it too.

Murphy— he sat on his hands.
