Mission Hill residents seek money from area colleges for vandalism repairs

The Huntington News reports on a proposal by the Mission Hill Problem Property Task Force for a fund to which Northeastern, Wentworth, MassArt and Mass. College of Pharmacy would make contributions to repair vandalism. Northeastern's John Tobin (yes, that John Tobin) says it's unfair to assume that all vandalism on the Hill is the fault of college students.

I've seen people tagging walls and even houses in broad daylight multiple times in a few years on the Hill. Hell, someone even tagged the house of the Franciscan Brothers on Parker St at one point (classy). None of them looked like your average college student (and I'm talking mostly about age, before anyone puts the race card in my mouth). I'd be curious to hear what they try to pin on "college students" when gang signs and tags seem to be the prevailing form of 'art' in my neighborhood.

Can you be a parent at home struggling to pay tuition bills...then you hear that some "advocacy group" is shaking you down to pay for damage incurred by a bunch of street thugs? Outrageous.

i think it is about time we charge these colleges for unleashing these drunkin monkeys in our neighborhood. every night we have to be awakened by party animals screaming, barfing, rampaging etc. and no one wants to take responsibility for it. so shut the heck up or teach your children better manners and social skills.and we wont be looking for compensation for all the damage they do.

Don't these shameless nags have anything going on in their sad little lives?
This self appointed posse needs to spend sometime on the treadmill rather than flapping their overdeveloped mandibles at these institutions.
Take a look at public school crowd who come into the neighborhood or the home grown variety living in subsidized housing......oh but wait! - there's no money there so they shake down the institutions that provide education and employment to so many.
