Hope it doesn't hit us but . . .
. . . a big part of me gets a thrill out of storms. Yeah- I know they are not fun for emergency people- but I can't help it- big storms fascinate me.
There is something comforting about a storm to me
It's that whole cocooning with books and board games thing that I associate with them, or the drinking and bonding thing, or, etc.
I have very fond memories from various hurricanes, storms of the century, blizzards, and the like.
Yeah-
-fond memories of big storms when I as a kid- when the power went out for days- and the TeeVee went dark and cold. Getting fire wood from under the snow- going to the grocery store on a sled- Board games and campbell's soup heated in fondue pots- candles everywhere. Ah- the good ol days.
And kerosene!
We had lots of kerosene lanterns growing up, and made frequent use. This modern, redundant power grid is a luxury!
The last time . . .
. . . a storm took out power for any extended period of time was I think- the no name storm in the 80's. Lose power now- never more than a few hours- or a day at most. Not the same.
Oddly enough, the Weather
Oddly enough, the Weather Channel painted all of SE New England from Portsmouth to the RI/Conn border with a red "Tornadoes likely" warning.
