In response, Greeley said he was unfamiliar with the specific case, but said that all officers receive “strong training and strong supervision,” along with constant reminders to “treat people with respect and dignity.”

This is the funniest thing I've read so far today, but I haven't gotten to the comics yet.

"I am not moving" a short film

Video of an Occupy Wall Street protester who takes a brave and eloquent stand against police brutality, telling the police to their faces that there's nothing tough about attacking unarmed peaceful citizens.

The Occupy Boston movement has quickly sucked up police resources, he said. Arresting people, blocking off streets for marches and maintaining a protective presence at Dewey Square all take a considerable amount of work.

“It taxes the system. It takes officers off the streets,” he said.

"It costs a lot to arrest people for no good reason and hold them for twenty-four hours!"

I suspect that there are a number of cops who actually feel what Greeley said (and maybe he does too), but the exchange depicted in the Freep reads like a corporate apology for wiping out a village with contaminated Wheetabix. "We are gravely sorry for any inconvenience and will maintain our ongoing commitment to quality breakfast cereal."

Why just state that the protesters didn't have permission from the Conservancy and not address the many reports (including documentation) that the Conservancy did ok the expansion (under certain conditions)? And playing dumb about the very first video that hit the web from the arrests (Don Zimmer impressions from Veterans for Peace courtesy of BP-Pedro Martinez-D) just makes him seem completely full of kaka-doo.

Many students at the meeting, however, said that they were angered by the arrests made in early Tuesday morning, when protesters attempted to occupy a portion of the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway.

[Greeley] doesn’t take us seriously. He was deflecting serious questions by being chummy,” said a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences who asked to remain anonymous.

However, Greeley said the Greenway “never gave permission” for people to be there. The police gave protesters multiple warnings and opportunities to leave before moving in.

"Greeley said the Greenway “never gave permission” for people to be there."

Greeley is misinformed or lying. The Greenway did not complain or file a complaint about their presence. Occupy people met with the Greenway Park Manager and discussed the question. She didn't want them harming the plantings but she said she would consent to their presence. She also said that the BPD might not agree with that.
