First snow of the season in Boston

Greg Hum photographed Boston in the snow - you know, the snow they told us we wouldn't get.

Looks like it is up to 3 inches in my neck of Brighton, and it's still going. The forecasters were as wrong about the snow as the pundits were about yesterday's election! Hard to believe I was wandering around outside in flip flops this morning, and I'm going to have to dig out the boots now!

Ah, New England!

I checked in on Weather Underground and they were, around noon, predicting a wintry mix changing over after dark. Pretty well describes.

I arrived home from work to a teenage snowball barrage as I backed up the driveway.

I've got 4 - 4.5 inches near the Boston/Brookline/Newton border and it's still coming down hard.

I follow the technical weather discussions from NWS pretty closely, and they (and others) definitely did not expect to have this much snow this far in towards town. Also, interestingly, there was significantly less snow in Weston than there were here as of 7 p.m.

Judging from the latest radar images, unless this goes over to rain tonight, I'm going to have to shovel again tomorrow morning, and we'll be up near 6 inches at least for a storm total.
