Steve Garfield addresses the local Occupy Bostonians busy affixing their fliers to JP utility poles with wheatpaste: Knock it off!

At least use tape so we can remove these after your event.

The flyers for a show at obriens that were all over. I saw it in front of the city feed on boylston. It said "be there or get stabbed.". I was waiting for the outrage from the concerned citizens of JP, not a peep. Kenny soto from paul gore gets stabbed to death at 7-11 and none of the usual city feeders think these posters promote violence. If they said be there or be raped well then the outrage would have overflown. KO barstool might have had a stroke.

Remind me again what one has to do with the other. The one incident involves a flier for a band that promotes the band poorly, as O'Brien's fliers tend to. The other incident involved a poor kid who bumped into the wrong guy at a party in Rhode Island and had that asshole follow him all the way back to JP just to stab him to death in a parking lot.
That's not even a reach, that's just a false equivalence. A false equivalence that uses a very real human being and his very real, aggrieved family as human shields for your bad argument.
Oh, and that last bit? Somebody's just chumming the waters with some Barstool blood. Nobody's taking the bait on that one. Even El Fatso has decided to move the party to Worcester, so bully for him.

Numerous flyers that make light of violence are not acceptable. Theyre more offensive when theyre in the same hood as victims. Clearly one group of people with an agenda will only speak up when it furthers their agenda. Everybody else can screw.

I still have a scar running through my right eyebrow from where an FSU ass caught me with a Doc Marten during a 10 Yard Fight/Blood For Blood show. Two missing toenails are a reminder of my night at a Hatebreed show where me and a couple of other guys tried to pull FSU off of some kids in a "one in/all in" situation and ended up in some shit ourselves. And they wonder why there are no hardcore shows here anymore.
You know where O'Brien's is, don't you. Some dude bled out after getting stabbed in front of the Tedeschi's on Brighton and Harvard. Some other kid got stuck on Cambridge Street. Not even going to go into what used to go on at the Kells. "Come or get stabbed" isn't a threat in that neighborhood, it's just stating the options.
I don't disagree that it's a dumb flier. I do disagree that there's an immediate connection between that flier and what happened at the 7-11. That flier's not for a party at the 7-11 where people are going to make light of being stabbed.

They put those flyers up a block from where he lived and down the street from where he got killed. You think its not flagrant because the show wasnt at 7-11? I have subsequently ripped that bullshit down so his family wouldnt see it.

Those fliers were also up in from of Fiore's and down by the Midway. Those places had no connection to the incident and neither did these fliers.

the coat of black spray paint that the Occupy Moms posters on the traffic signal switch boxes have been getting recently. I'll admit that I had no idea what they were pushing for or what message they were trying to get across, but they were a lot better than the big black blob that looks like a gang tag that's currently on the utility box at Custer and South.
Re: O'Brien's show fliers. C'mon. Show fliers predate me by a stretch and I'm damn near 40. They're not going anywhere. "Be there or get stabbed." You know O'Brien's is a punk/metal bar, right? Half the bands that play there put a set of brass knuckles on their flier. Suburban tough guys, nothing more. You're a real shit for bringing Kenny Soto into this, though. Steve Garfield may be one of the neighborhood cranks, but he would never draw that parallel.
