Body recovered in Walden Pond; likely that swimmer who went missing

This just in from State Police:

At 11:48 a.m. today, a joint search operation by multiple police and fire agencies resulted in the recovery of the body of an adult male from Walden Pond. The deceased was located by divers in approximately 20 feet of water, approximately 75 yards from the shore of a cove area on the southern side of the pond. While official confirmation has not yet been made, the deceased's appearance is consistent with that of the 63-year-old man who was last seen swimming in the pond early Sunday evening. The recovery was made jointly by the Massachusetts State Police, Concord Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Department, Bedford Fire Department, Concord Police, Lincoln Police, and Environmental Police this morning, the third day of the search. The name of the victim is not being released.

Aside from 63 being far too young, I can't imagine a more lovely setting in which to pass from this world into the next. I hope he was thoroughly enjoying his swim on a beautiful warm Indian Summer evening, and that the end came quickly and without pain or fear.

Dear Bob, I do not know who you are (an angel?) or if you will see this reply, but we wanted you to know that for those of us close to him, your words have helped us more than almost any single thing since that horrible day. Thank you.
