Everything is just great in Boston politics these days

The 27 gazillion people running for various offices in Boston this year have taken to Twitter like never before, keeping us up to the minute on what they're doing.

Well, more specifically, they're keeping us up to the minute on how great everything is. They're all having great conversations with great constituents who raise great points as they enjoy great food at great events in every great neighborhood of this great city, that is, when they're not having great rallies with their great volunteers, who then spread out to do some great door knocking - during which, of course, they get a great response.

Oh, great, you think, UHub is getting greatly carried away again. See for yourself, with this up-to-the-minute Twitter timeline of great Boston political tweets these days:

So, as someone who has never been involved in Boston politics before (only lived here as an adult for a couple of years now, and never had a seriously contested Boston race to vote in), how do I get up to speed on this election? How do I find out about these great events that are happening in my neighborhood, where I can meet and talk to the mayoral candidates? Where are all the good sources for Boston politics, and who knows what they're talking about and provides good coverage of the candidates and race?

In case it makes a difference as far as events go, or people to meet, I live in JP.

Check out www.bostonparks.org - we have a page for each candidate, a calendar of forums, voting information and more - it's "election central" for parks & open space, near and dear to most JP residents. And come to the Parks & Open Space Forum this Thursday, August 15th from 7-9pm at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse, One Circuit Drive, Roxbury, on the #16 bus from Forest Hills.
