Boston Restaurant Talk reports An Tua Nua becomes just a memory this weekend.
I've been a semi-regular off and on for nearly sixteen years at Ceremony, for which the Tua Nua rented out their back room. I'm really going to miss this bar. Monique was the only bartender in greater Boston who would make a proper snakebite and not give me any lip about it.
Heard that Ceremony isn't moving. Just getting refurbished and new owners
Ceremony is a goth/industrial club night run in the back room on Mondays by a group of people independent of the ownership of the bar. "We" rent from them, so even if the bar stays put, the owners may well decide they don't want a bunch of freaks hanging around scaring off the mundanes. It wouldn't be the first time.
they were closing for renovations, and opening under a new name in ~a month. Same owners etc.
Same owners, new management.
Not sure if any of the existing staff will be asked back, yet.
They were also barely given a week's notice.
Same for all the nights that rent/operate out of there.
(I work on a night there - thus the info)
