Patrick says he didn't endorse anybody in state-senate race

The Dorchester Reporter reports the governor is slamming a pro-Collins ad featuring a photo of him and Nick Collins in the Bay State Banner, because he hasn't taken sides in the race between Collins, Linda Dorcena Forry and Maureen Dahill.

This isn't the first time Patrick has had to deny endorsing somebody, although at least this time his signature wasn't forged on the alleged endorsement.

Meanwhile, WBUR provides an overview of the race to represent the Southie/Dot district.

Not the first time that the Collins camp has put out bad information.
They erroneously claimed that Rev. Jeffrey Brown endorsed Collins, but in fact, Rev. Brown has endorsed Linda Dorcena Forry and even did a phone message to voters endorsing her this weekend.
Are these guys incompetent— or just shady, as the governor says?
Either way, a poor reflection on their candidate.

inexperience, he's 30 years old

I'd say a pleasant mix of both.

Since when did a photo of you and another politician = endorsement?

Here's a shocker, too: if you don't like a photo of you and another politician being used...DON'T POSE WITH THEM?

This is like a cross between Stalinist "you didn't exist" crap and tempest in a teacup nonsense.

That's one point of view.

Another is that it's never a good idea to make a misstep so huge that it prompts the state's sitting governor to issue a statement blasting you as "shady."

Collins has definitely stepped in it more than once towards the end here. His inexperience is definitely on display.

Where in the quote from the Governor does he use the phrase "shady" I read it, and never saw it. Collins may have his issues, and I still haven't decided whether he or Dorcena gets my vote, but in his defense he didn't run this ad so he cannot be held accountable for a PAC running an ad with a picture of him.

I hate shady campaign tactics. Overcoming them will depend on voters participating and making their voices heard.

I believe Carlos Arredondo has also endorsed Collins.

Doesn't Linda Dorcena Forry's husband own and operate the Dorchester Reporter. Not sure how I feel about them running and making a story of a photo that a PAC for Collins ran, which only included the photo but had no mention of Deval. Looks like opportunism to me.

I think the news is Patrick's comments, not how Forry feels about the ad. But the Reporter has an ombudsman to review its coverage of the race, if you have a concern.

Disclaimer: I built and maintain the Reporter Web site, and write some stories for them, although almost entirely of the crime and licensing variety - not political stuff.

I think that this is a much a do about nothing.

It sounds like the person who chairs the political action committee who ran the Bay State Banner ad said sorry. That gentleman is obviously responsible for putting the picture of Deval with Collins. So it's that guy's fault.

What Nick really needs to worry about is whether Reverand Eugene Rivers is actually going to vote for him tomorrow.

According to Secretary of State's office of Elections, Eugene Rivers has not cast a vote in at least 15 years.

This is significant for a man of Religeon who frequently injects himself in Boston Politics and Nationally too.

So you're saying Rivers hasn't voted in the last FOUR presidential cycles— or for Governor?
Hmmmm.... why isn't that in the Globe and Herald- which love to quote this "clergyman" non-stop??

Speaking of shady, I have never seen the DA office do any kind of campaign like this in the last 12 years, now he's running for Mayor and he found a way to put his name front and center? On Federal grant money no less? If its not about him then why is his name dead center instead of off in a corner, wouldn't it stand to reason the BPD Chief would also get his name mentioned, since you know, they're the ones actually fielding these calls? It was bad enough he got in front of mics to give so many speeches during such a tragic week when he A)had nothing to do with the investigation and B) knew this was a federal case and he would not be spending a minute of his time on it.

Adamg, you should use your platform to call out shady practices like this one. It should be something all candidates are afraid to do lest they get called out on it.
