South Station all lit up
By adamg on Mon, 11/25/2013 - 12:07am
David Schachner photographed a multi-colored South Station on Nov. 15. The station was lit up like this again tonight.

Yeah, I've seen it like that
Yeah, I've seen it like that before. Looks real nice,
I wish they would light up the glass station exits at night. With the artsy designs it would look real good!
Isn't it always lit this way?
I've seen quite a few pictures of the station like this. I just assumed this was the current lighting design. Maybe people just don't share pictures of South Station unless it is lit this way?
Either way, it is good shot of a gorgeous building!
"a gorgeous building" The BRA
"a gorgeous building" The BRA saw fit to demolish 75% of it in the 1970s. Almost back to 1940s levels of passenger traffic with only 25% the space to handle it. Heckuva job BRA!
Not shocking
After all, the BRA is the same agency which denies projects because they're "too iconic" (ACTUAL QUOTE) and not mediocre enough.
oooh shiny!
Cheer up! The station might be a tiny shadow of its former self and now overcapacity for its reduced size BUT it now has AIRPORT grade bathrooms!
A little late...
... for Bastille Day I'd say ;-)
BTW-- If you want to see what a partially boarded up hellhole the station was in the 70's, rent THE OUT OF TOWNERS with Jack Lemmon & Sandy Dennis some time.
They did
It for Veterans Day, and have left it lite up since.
It's been lit with color
It's been lit with color (Primarily the red, white, blue) since April, the weekend of the Marathon. For the first week it was just blue, then the trio, and for awhile in October it was a pinkish/purple.
great pic
