Charlestown teen shot on Wednesday has died

Ryan Morrissey

Boston Police said tonight that Ryan "Duce" Morrissey has died.

Morrissey, 17, and Jamie Lawton, 19, were shot Wednesday night on Main Street. Police say they continue to investigate the shooting and are asking for help from the public to find the shooters.

Several hundred Charlestown residents gathered Friday for a prayer vigil for Morrissey.

Morrissey was a student at Saint Clement School in Medford.

Essay he wrote about his future when he was about to turn 15.

He is the first Charlestown resident to be shot to death since Steven Jones was murdered in May, 2013.

Did he get shot? Based on the initial description, this wasn't a case of mistaken identity or robbery gone bad.

Why are you so certain it was mistaken identity?

Thoughts and prayers for the victim and his family.

the kid wasn't into bad shit and was just hanging out with friends. It was either mistaken identity or some dirtbags not giving a shit who they shoot.

Why?
Guns, bullets that don't seek the intended target, was he intended target of someone's payback?

Anger, jealousy, perceived and real dissing, all reacted to with the pull of a trigger.

Damn shame. Whatever the reason.........

RIP Ryan, I didn't know you personally, but you shouldn't have died so young. Thoughts and prayers being sent to his family & friends. When will these senseless acts of violence end?

Hurts so much man I went to school with Duce since preschool all the way until middle school. Funny kid never looking for trouble. I also feel this was mistaken identity. RIP man. Never forgotten.
