Chinatown restaurant shut over lengthy list of health-code violations
An ISD health inspector this week ordered Taiwan Cafe, 34 Oxford St., closed until it can fix a long list of violations, including prescription drugs found above areas where food is prepared - and stored with some food - storing ice under pipes from a hand-washing sink and letting some food sit on a sink used for washing mops.
The can of Raid the inspector found atop a walk-in refrigerator did little to assuage concerns about pest control - especially not with the evidence of flies found in the kitchen.
The restaurant can seek a follow-up inspection to prove it has fixed all the violations.
