FIELDS CORNER BUSINESS LABS LAUNCHES FIRST DORCHESTER
CO-WORKING SPACE IN HISTORIC LENANE BUILDING

DORCHESTER, MA (May 20, 2014) – Fields Corner Business Lab, a co-working space bringing together Dorchester’s entrepreneurs, small businesses and community development organizations to serve as an economic engine for one of Boston’s most promising business districts, today announced its opening on the 4th floor of the historic Lenane Building at 1452 Dorchester Avenue in Fields Corner.

Co-founded by Travis Lee and John Maudlin, the Fields Corner Business Lab contains 13 small private offices, three conference rooms, private work stations and flexible work areas, as well as office amenities including wifi, a printer/copier, reception area, a kitchen and opportunities for social gatherings. The lab takes up the entire top floor of the Lenane Building in the heart of Fields Corner and has 4,500 square feet of office space available.

The Lab offers small businesses and startups office space and all the necessary office amenities at a drastically reduced cost. Private offices start at $450 a month, dedicated workstations at $300 a month and flexible workspace at $100 a month.

“The Fields Corner Business Lab is a place for a small business or startup entrepreneur to work that isn’t at home or in a coffee shop and doesn’t have the large associated costs of opening an office,” said co-founder Travis Lee. “For only $100 a month, you can have access to productive work space, high speed wireless Internet, free coffee, copying and printing, and three conferences spaces. It is the first business lab of this kind in Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.”

In addition to private offices, dedicated work stations, flexible work areas and office amenities, the Lab will deliver much more than renting in a traditional office building, including access to expert training and coaching, and social and collaborative events. The Lab is part of efforts to build off the long-standing small business presence in the Lenane Building, which already houses several local entrepreneurs and nonprofits on its first three floors.

“The Fields Corner Business Lab offers affordable pricing, flexibility and convenience to small business owners and nonprofit organizations that need it most,” said co-founder John Maudlin. “The Lab will create a productive, healthy and synergistic environment for its members and, ultimately, foster economic development for the Dorchester community.”
