I'm having a hard time imagining any kind of reasonable scenario which would have left a car at this angle and with this amount of damage. Driver must have been doing something monumentally stupid.

I assume no one was hurt, thank goodness.

...that thing in his hand that he's staring into might have something to do with it....

Either turning right from the left lane (a peeve of mine) too fast, or something else turning from the right lane, but I'd bet they started from the left lane.

So, I see it as possible, but dumbassery was probably in play.

I walked passed this while the police were on scene. There were at least 2 other cars parked out of the frame of the picture posted that were involved. One was a taxi and another a private car.

There are several really dangerous intersections and streets around the square and in the neighborhood - I can think of quite a few spots where people speed and make illegal and dangerous maneuvers (above is just one example). the most pressing is the crosswalk next to the wallpaper place - if someone is stopped for a pedestrian, often a motorist will whip around on the right in the bike lane and almost run the pedestrian over - I've seen it happen at least 3 times in the past few months - one time was a very close call with a woman pushing a stroller. This needs to be made narrower to prevent people from doing this.

I'm not sure how putting "slow" and "20mph" signs on walter street prevents people from driving 40+ mph through there. "Slow" signs are pretty useless in general - this is a place that could benefit from bike lanes and raised pedestrian crossings (or curb extensions).

There really needs to be curb extensions at both the irving and the brooke on cummins (and maybe at all crosswalks on cummins). - these are schools that have a lot of walkers - and people regularly speed along cummins. the bike lanes helped a little, but a more permanent solution is needed.

There really should be a raised crosswalks at the healy along florence street.

I also hope that Walsh keeps his promise of getting the state to reduce speed limits in residential areas - almost every other state this this between 20 and 25 mph.

Bexley Road (where I live) also needs attention, we have cars racing down it, and several of the families (myself included) have young children who could dart out in the street not realizing how incredibly dangerous our street is.

My guess is that they flew down Corinth street and took a left onto Washington in order to block a complete lane of traffic so as to run into Subway and grab their dinner. They look like a couple of winners.
