Do you think he took the elevator or just rode up the stairs?

Scooter on the Orange Line

Kate Sosin reports the dude and his ride were already on the inbound Orange Line train last night when she boarded at North Station. He got off at Downtown Crossing. See it larger.

Far more impressive than the guy in the chair and the guy dining on the folding table. Perhaps the T can release the security footage of this guy entering and exiting the stations. We know the footage exists.

Yeah, wouldn't he have had to get it past a T employee in the booth? Can you bring a gasoline powered vehicle on the T? What's next? A Mini?

Well scooters/dirtbikes/4-wheelers already get away with everything in the city since BPD can't seem to catch them in the first place.

They don't need to chase them. They can be creative and set up photo traps. Two cops. One taking stills, the other video. Identify them though the photos, confiscate the bikes and hand them a summons to court. Pretty simple!!!

That'll definitely happen.

Here we go again.. Angry car drivers who can't fathom why one would use an alternative mode of transport. (get a real mode of transport you hippie! ..and get off my lawn!!) PS one dummy on a moped doesnt mean they all are.

On the Green (E) line yesterday, the train was delayed/standing by while the operator chatted with the supervisor in his Brigham Circle hut. When she came back she explained she'd had to talk to him about the man in an office chair that she'd just had to kick off the train, because she "didn't want to end up on Twitter". Passengers quickly began referencing

Weird blend of digital/IRL

I having a feeling we will be seeing a few more of these "What's the wackiest thing I can bring on the T" stunts as people try to top each other for their 15 minutes of fame.

This makes me legit angry.

You're just jealous of his scooter.

It looks like one of those shit sub-$1000 chinese made scooters that are both unsafe and prone to hilarious mechanical troubles.

it gets the job done, boss.

Not as easy as I'd have hoped to find a short clip of the True Lies scene where the guy rides off the hotel roof and lands in the pool. Needless to say, you'd expect someone to be in hot pursuit with a horse.

Right up there with Bullitt, The French Connection, and To Live and Die in L.A.

was the scene in Money Train where Wesley Snipes drives his motorcycle into the Times Square subway station.

THIS is the true multimodal transportation we've all been waiting for.

Remember when SUV strollers were the biggest annoyance on the MBTA?

I blame the MBTA for banning full sized bikes at several stations/times but neglecting to ban scooters. Technically this guy is legit because of that.

Speaks for itself and this photo.

But, since that's how you guys roll on the Orange Line, can you let me know if I am still prohibited from taking my (muscle pedal) bike on the Green Line?

up
Voting closed 0

Assuming it's not a folded bike, you can but only during certain hours as Swirly recently provided.

up

Onboard the green line and buses are FOLDING BIKES ONLY and they need to be folded before boarding. Folded bikes count as "luggage".

up

Many buses have a bike rack on the front for full size bikes.

And all of them are in various states of dangerous disrepair

I'd estimate that 1 time out of every 20 I try to use a bus bike rack, it's broken or missing.

I have seen baby carriages bigger than this scooter.

I'm trying to think of what O line station dude got on at that doesn't have some sort of stairs or escalator to the platform and how he planed on getting it out of there. That's way too large for an elevator.

Over the summer, riding the T a little bit after sunset, a guy would get on at Mass Ave. and get off at Forest Hills with this huge, 4 wheeled contraption that would block the door area on both sides. Once, he even got into it with 2 people in wheelchairs who were trying to board. To be fair, he saw the error of his ways and did the right things by them.

Aside from the size of the thing, he basically was wimping out on taking the Southwest Corridor path. I run it, the missus bikes it, yet this guy just couldn't hack it.

You do wonder how moped-er was able to get into the station, board the train, ride, get off, and leave the station without anyone saying anything. Oh, I guess that assumes there are people at the stations nowadays.

You aren't even supposed to take a bike off there!

up

he isn't wearing his helmet...write 'im up

up

He has a motorized bike and he's ON THE FREAKIN T with it.

Come on.. just ride the damn thing to wherever you are going.

This has to be some how illegal since its motorized bike (and not a moped) or at a minimum against T rider rules.

Why would an mbta employee allow him to have a scooter inside a train car, does that scooter have gas inside the tank!

"off duty" (i.e. "not my job to question the guy").

T Etiquette needs to be mandatory on all it's subways and buses feels like no one knows how to actually ride the T the right way now. The dumbest things happen on the T and you wonder why your train shows up late, is running really slow, service is delayed or one or more trips are cancelled all together.

up
Voting closed 0

Does the T really need to issue a goddamn Special Order to remind folks that, indeed, you can't allow someone into the station -- much less let them board a train -- with something that has an internal combustion engine!?

up
Voting closed 0

Apparently yes.

That is a 150cc Raptor scooter - which makes it a motorcycle, requiring a license plate in this state. Raptor makes a 49.5cc model but you can tell the difference easily.
