Nobody goes there any more, it's too crowded!

I briefly thought about trying to get the phrase "Doggie Berra" in the headline, but wasn't sure anybody would get it :-).

that for a place with so much open green space and so many dogs, there are really only two small official enclosed dog parks in JP. You'd also have thought with all the renovation that the MSPCA could've located the dog run in an area that didn't bother abutters. I do hope that a new park can be carved out somewhere.

but I'm hoping the Hyde Park dog park location is approved. It's a start. Www.dogparkboston.org has more information.

Agree that with so much green space in JP it would be nice to have some place nearby.

Perhaps after the Olympics are over, the Franklin Park equestrian trail can become a dog park. [sarcasm]

interesting hours to close access, when most people are likely to be at work or school and either wouldn't be walking a dog or care about noise.

my guess is this action was taken to prevent dog walkers from bringing small herds of dogs all at once. 10-3 sounds like prime dog walking service time.

That's pretty much exactly what it is. (And I think that's ok.)

The point of the previous comment was that this maneuver is the opposite of preventing small herds of dogs via dog walkers.

I used to bring my pups there until they got too old to go that far and too cranky to deal with the younger frisky dogs.

There are more than one enclosure areas at Angell but they've rightfully reserved them for either sick/recovering dogs, test visits with adoptive humans or their training classes (agility). When the enclosure were first put up we could visit any one of the enclosures because they hadn't quite figured out how they would be using them.

There aren't more dog areas because people are concerned about smells, noise, etc and frankly care more about the unused children/tot lots.

Whoops - completely misunderstood. Sorry!

I finally read the article and I think it is a good idea for them to try and stop the crowds of dog walkers. The ones I've seen in there often have 4 or more dogs and I would think caring for that many at the same time would be difficult to remember which one pooped nevermind following through on picking up.

But that's me - maybe they have magical observational skills. I know watching two crazy Basenjis was not always easy ... lol.
