Orange Line train exhales its last; riders stuck going nowhere fast

So this train pulls into State Street and the doors just won't open, to the point where people start banging on the doors, which, of course, does nothing to make them work. The T finally managed to unload that train somehow, but now it's reporting "severe" delays on the Citrus Line.

Back in 2011, 01204 had a major door fault that ended up spreading to the rest of the train. We pulled into Downtown Crossing and the doors didn't open. The motorwoman didn't notice. "PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE CLOSING DOORS! PLEASE BACK AWAY FROM THE YELLOW LINE!" We proceed to State and the same thing happens; but now it seems some other cars are having door trouble, too. (Noticed a few folks on 01205 looking puzzled and frustrated.)

We reach Haymarket and, once again, the doors still didn't open. The yelling and swearing eventually drew the motorwoman out of the cab to see what was wrong. It took about 20 minutes of troubleshooting before she just manually cut out and opened the doors. She and an official had to do the same with the rest of the train.

Needless to say, 01204/01205 are my least favorite married pair on the Orange Line. 01204 seems unable to avoid mechanical shenanigans of one sort or the other; and 01205 was the scene of terrible tragedy a few years back.

But cheer up! The pilot cars from the new Orange Line order should be here in early 2018. And a complete fleet change out by 2021!

It would be great if "Measure 5" were "An act to abolish statehouse parking for legislators and require all legislators to use the MBTA to commute".

Is this a situation in which the emergency stop/door opening lever is called for? I feel like if the train is sitting for more than 10 minutes and you haven't heard anything it's time to start considering alternatives.
