Police: Kendall Square garage thief smashing car windows, scooping up laptops, tablets

Wanted

Cambridge Police report seven break-ins at two Kendall Square garages - one on Broadway, one at Cambridge Center - since Oct. 29.

In four of the break-ins, the thief or thieves made off with laptops or tablets. In six of the cases, car windows were smashed in.

The break-ins are happening on Wednesdays and Thursday, typically between 4 and 8 p.m. Police released a photo of the suspect in the Broadway break-ins.

Police say people should never leave valuables in their cars.

Don't leave tablets and phones and computers in plain sight. I assume this guy wasn't smashing windows randomly to see what he found (although in Kendall, not a terrible strategy) but rather smashing the windows of cars which had laptop cases and iPads conveniently sitting out in plain sight.

Cambridge Center is now Kendall Center.

I guess they finally realized it's not in the center of Cambridge. Now, if they would just do something about One Kendall Square...

How long will it take the T to change the secondary automated announcement for Kendall/MIT, which says "MIT Cambridge Center"?
