Readville man remains missing after two days of searching

Milton Police reported they and other agencies called off their second day of searching without finding any signs of Thomas Baker, 62, of Readville, who was last seen Thursday near the Milton Health Care rehab center on Brush Hill Road, just over the Neponset from Readville.

Other evidence has indicated he walked into the Hemingway estates off Brush Hill Rd. Today a massive coordinated search involving officers from The Boston Police, Mass State Police and our regional partners from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, as well as DCR Rangers and Quincy PD and Mass Environmental Police took place with no discovery of this man. This area of Town is very thick with acres of brush, thickets and swamp. This was not an easy operation, but by tonight, he was not located.

If you do see him, contact the E-18 station in Hyde Park at 617-343-5600 or Milton Police at 617-698-3800.

Can someone please just state the reasons why this man is missing and why there is a search for him ? The idle speculation is starting to become really tedious. If he is in danger, this is not the time to be politically correct. If he is not in danger then you are running the risk of wolf crying, as has happened so many times before in situations with people who just don't want to talk to their friends but become the focus of massive searches when they take some down time to get their heads clear. That type of thing dilutes the immediacy of actual kidnappings etcetera in the same way that have-you-seen-mes numb our attention. Just tell us what's up in plain language already.

So nobody can say. Such was the case with with the German Wings pilot who took 149 other people with him on his suicide into the Alps. So, some rethinking on privacy is needed there.

If the man escaped from prison and were a danger to others, there would be like 800+ police looking for him. As it is, the number of police looking for him is far more than in the old days.

Sorry - I've removed the original content of this comment. Someone in the family asked me to edit what I had written due to too many personal details. In re-reading it, I saw that just about everything I said could be seen as something to which they might object. My thinking was - and is - the more personal you make it, the more other people will care and respond, but I certainly do not wish to cause any grief to anyone, so I've removed the entire comment.

The real deal.

Fwiw, I read your original post before you removed it, and while I understand why the family might be concerned about some of details you included, I would like them to know that nothing you wrote made me feel any less concern, nor hold any less hope in my heart for Thomas's safe return to his family.

My prayers and best thoughts go out to them all.
