Therefore, this is obviously saying, "Resist the Olympic profiteers and hucksters: do not lay out the welcome mat for them. Or you will paaaaay for the cost overruns with your taaaax dollaaaaars!"

That is what Resist Pineapple is saying to me, anyway. Don't ask me why it talks in a spooky ghost voice.

I always thought that the pineapple was the international symbol for swingers. If you see a house with a pineapple flag or banner flying or hanging outside, it means that there is a swinger party going on inside and if you want to party come on over! This poster with the pineapple on top of the word "resist" means that religious fundamentalists, be they Christians, Muslims, Black Hebrew Israelites, Mormons or whatever, see the area where it was posted as clearly their turf and they do not want any hedonism to take place. It is a message to hippies and libertines that they are not welcome.

This is a first for me. Never heard of this.

You really do learn something every day!

Of course to me a picture of a pineapple is just that.. a pineapple. Let me cut it up and put tooth picks in it. We can feel like we're at the Royal Dragon!

I thought that the pineapple symbolic of hospitality. That's why you see it as home decor a lot. See: http://library.ucf.edu/rosen/pineapple.php

But if it means swingers, well, that's an... interesting take on the symbolism of hospitality!

From What's Under the Golden Dome: A Children's Guide to the Massachusetts State House
"At the very top of the dome is a sculpture carved of wood. Many people
think it is a pineapple, but it is not. It is a pine cone, put there to remind
everyone of the importance of the pine trees which provided wood to build
our houses, churches and commercial buildings. The wood for the State
House came from the northern part of Massachusetts, which, in 1820,
became the state of Maine."

It's not a brand, but a local protest against police profiling of people of color via aggressive "stop and frisk" policies. (Mostly-archived) Herald story here. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6TqBpRux0g

Looks like a pineapple / acanthus leaf finial somewhat common on wrought iron fences and sometimes poster beds. Resist what? Finials? How strange.
