They ought to be doing street signs in the South End.

Does Aldi Nord own Trader Joe's?... Does Aldi Sud carry similar or different things?...

TJ's is owned by Aldi, but their product lines and target markets are very different. I rarely buy food at Aldi, but I do check their ads periodically for kitchen stuff. All of my cast iron enamel cookware is from Aldi because I'm far too cheap to buy Le Creuset.

Who are the manufacturers of the enamel cookware at Aldi Wellington Circle?...

Le Creuset make a great French Dutch Oven ! When the warmer weather is back how about looking for intact Le Creuset at yard sales?...

Aldi supermarkets are owned by Aldi Sud, Trader Joe's are owned by Aldi Nord. They are different businesses, they separated a half century ago, but it is the same family that owns it.

Perhaps Whole Foods is trying to sabotage Trader Joes.

First the stabbing, then the bombing, now a fire?

Is this store number 1313 or something?

I don't think this is their first fire at this location either . Seem to remember a few years ago another " small" fire resulted in their closing for a few days. Maybe their sample oven setup is problematic? I tend to shop here moreso than WF, especially for specialty items, so hope they won't be closed for long.

There are very few grocery sources in the city, while there are plenty of wine, beer, and spirits vendors. I will take a hubway bike or my own bike and load up on work lunch and breakfast and snack food at this location.

It is also handy for feeding kids snacking food on First Night and during other events. My out-of-town friends attending conferences in Copley or staying in area hotels are usually quite happy to hear it is there, because they don't want to spend $$$ on breakfast and/or want a healthy food option should they decide not to go out to dinner every night.

Look at the sodium count on some of those prepared frozen items at TJ's.

I have to worry about sodium counts.

dvdoff I am 55! And I should not have been so flip, sorry.

What I meant to say is that much of the research that led our doctors to recommend that we eat less sodium to manage the risk of heart disease is now in dispute.

Have a pretzel :).

from my calm, reasoned demeanor, but hypertension runs on both side of my family. It's not so much the frozen items or bacon that I miss, it's that damn movie popcorn.

OK, I am not your Dr. but consider discussing this with him/her. I hate to have you missing bacon for no reason.

Or dinner at one of the pubs? Yes. Eat like that and you'll likely get a lot more sodium and calories than most people need when they are sitting around all day.

You can always pick the lower sodium options, too, because you get nutrition info!

If I'm on the road, like I was when I visited the Original TJs or picked up cross continental road trip supplies in Seattle, I mostly pick up fresh fruit, bread and peanut butter and instant oatmeal.

You're lucky that you live in the burbs and have a car with access to easy and plentiful parking, several mega grocery stores options, including Market Basket; but those of us who live in the city and walk / carry our groceries, like myself, home do lose out with this Trader Joe's being closed till further notice. Thanks for the lecture though.

There's a Shaw's right at the Pru and practically on top of the T and another TJ in Coolidge Corner, right across from the T.

Shaw's is expensive and TJ's in Coolidge Corner is a hike if you don't live in Brookline or Allston (I live in JP and even I groan when I have to head out to that location).

TJ's should move to the former Virgin Megastore/BackBay Bestbuy location on Mass Ave at Newbury/Boylston. Bigger space right on top of the green line and #1 bus.
