Zoogoers could soon hear roaring in stereo

Dinari and Kamaia - new lions at the Franklin Park Zoo

The Franklin Park Zoo announced yesterday it's obtained two lions to replace Christopher, who died of old age last month.

Zoo officials say brothers Dinari and Kamaia, both 6, could make their first public appearance in a week or two - the pair are still getting acclimated to their new surroundings.

The lions come here from the Dallas Zoo, which agreed to transfer them because the two weren't very good with the lady lions and that zoo wants to try to breed more lions. In fact, one of the brothers killed a prospective mate in 2013, although the Dallas Zoo emphasized the transfer to Boston "certainly isn’t a punitive thing in any way."

Dennis and KKKallahan had some thoughts on that very subject.

Am I the only one who thought it was a actually a very clever joke?

There are quite a few people in Boston who think crude racist "humor" is the epitome of knee-slapping good times.

This headline led to disappointment, as I first thought it was about the Franklin Park Zoo installing huge speakers to blast lion roars throughout Jamaica Plain. I suppose the neighborhood groups would have a hissy fit over that.

Brookline should create a Work Furlough Program for these guys.

No lion could replace Christopher, but welcome Dinari and Kamaia! Got to work on the lacy problem though.

The only thing I know about lions is that they are over the top adorable, cuddly and would probably eat me. So I am intrigued that the lions killed a female lion. Wow. We think human beings have problems.

These guys are hands down stunningly handsome. I hope they become fellows of great affection in Boston. A couple of handsome (albeit not so nice to other big cats) lions will be a boon to Boston.

There used to be a pair of lions at Franklin Park until the pervious male killed the female. That's why they're getting two bros this time.
