Angry man punches off-duty cop in the face at West Roxbury Home Depot

Boston Police report an off-duty cop from another department was trying to calm down a Roslindale man who was screaming and throwing things at the Home Depot on VFW Parkway Sunday afternoon when the guy suddenly punched him in the face.

An off-duty Boston bike cop who just happened to be entering the store at the time heard the commotion and went over and identified himself to the raging 55-year-old man:

[T]he man replied, “[Expletive] you.” The subject then became more aggressive, trying to strike other customers who had gathered around the disturbance. Through their combined efforts, the two officers were eventually able to take control of the disturbed individual until additional units arrived to assist. The male subject was secured and transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation. The off-duty Boston Police Officer sustained minor injuries during the incident and has since been treated and released. No charges have been filed at this time against the individual.

We normally go months without news of violent incidents in West Roxbury, now we have two just today. Everything OK, Westie?

Apparently, if you want to feel secure when buying painting supplies or lighting fixtures, the West Roxbury Home Depot is the place to be, since all the cops shop there.

The criminal underworld is already moving to Westie in anticipation of opening their meth labs and brothels in the rental development where the inhaler factory is. Just wait until that place goes through - it will truly be a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I like shopping at that Home Depot. It's actually relatively small by Home Depot standards but the staff is almost always nice and helpful. Plus they use their parking lot for seasonal outdoor stuff to compensate for the lack of store space.

What's with people everywhere suddenly getting in a punchy mood?

That's all I ask, and everything will be cool.

Everyone is still as full of hate and rage as they are the rest of the year, but now there's crappy Christmas music everywhere and the world's expectations that our miserable hearts be covered with a veneer of forced bonhomie and lip service towards Peace on Earth Good Will to Men.

Even if it weren't Christmas time I can see why people would fly off the handle in Home Depot. It's only one step down from shopping at Ikea for inducing rage.

Once again, BPD doing a great job - even while off-duty.

Thankfully these two officers were there to bring the psycho under control.

But I am sure someone will find a problem with it.

Most regulars on this site (i.e. excluding trolling anons and the like) appreciate the fact that Boston Police behave in a highly professional manner (most of the time).

"negative cop talk" is for when police officers misbehave, not for when they're the good guys.

They didn't say it wasn't Adam.
