Authorities look for help to identify body found in Charles River last month

Abercrombie and Fitch sweatshirt found on body

State Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office hope somebody recognizes the faded Abercrombie & Fitch sweatshirt worn by the roughly 60-year-old man whose body was found in the Charles River off the Esplanade on March 10.

Investigators have exhausted the traditional methods of identifying the individual, whose body was spotted floating along the Esplanade on March 10. The body is described as that of a pale-skinned, white male approximately 60 years in age, about 5’8” tall, and about 200 lbs. He was bald except for white hair on the back and sides of his head, with white facial hair.

The man had a backpack with items inside, but did not have any identification or personal papers to establish his identity. He was wearing a dark-colored Carhartt stocking cap, light-colored pants, a blue sweater, and a gray hooded Abercrombie & Fitch sweatshirt with faded yellow lettering.

Authorities say the man's body showed no signs of trauma. Anybody who might know who he is - or even just seen him should contact the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.
