I love how they have created their own unique system of punctuation that bears no resemblance to how the rest of the English-speaking world uses periods.

the "SECRET MUSLIM OBAMA IS COMING FOR OUR GUNS" email-forward aesthetic, don't they? Plenty of ellipses, which make it sound like they just sort of forgot what they were talking about mid-sentence; weird sentence boundaries; fragments mixed in with run-ons; switching from third to second-person haphazardly.

OK, I'm off to register a parody Twitter account for this.

ALL CAPS as well as something resembling proper usage of ellipses is a decent trade-off. Nothing worse than the guy who has to separate each thought, or fragment of one, with 8 periods.

The National Hurricane center now quietly and calmly discusses killer death storms, but the bags of lower-case letters haven't yet made it to NWS in Boston (well, Taunton).

Great, now I have New Edition stuck in my head.

I assume this was done on purpose?

I'll tune into 1010 on the car radio when we're out at night every so often just to see if they still do that "You give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world" thing. And they still do! And then I stick around for traffic and transit on the 1s just to see how the GWB and the BQE are doing.

Yeah, yeah, you can take the boy out of Brooklyn ...

When my brothers and I went to New York for the day, often could get 1010 WINS roughly near New Haven or so. It came in ultra handy when we were leaving the city and the FDR was backed up all the way to the Bronx (namely because everyone wanted to get on the Hutchinson, or after that, wanting to get past the Bronx/Westchester border)

I grew up in NJ not far from NYC, listening to 1010 WINS to get the weather in the mornings. Fun fact: some years ago the station needed to re-record that sound effect. I guess maybe the last cart was wearing out, or they needed to make a digital version, whatever. They had a heck of a time finding a working TeleType that they could set up in a recording studio and make a digital "tape loop" of, since there were just about none of them still in service.
