Coupla yahoos in a pickup with a Trump flag ordered off Wellesley College campus

The Globe reports the good ol' boys were driving around campus being "disruptive" to students. And by "disruptive," they may mean parking outside a center for African and African-American students and jeering and spitting before being booted off campus and going back to Babson.

They driving around campus or were they parked or are students trying to turn a stupid prank in to something racist when it isn't?

Also side note, why does Wellesley have a race specific dorm. Kinda racist no?

I'm an alum of Wellesley. Harambee House (where I believe the incident took place), is a meeting house/cultural center for African-American/students of African descent at Wellesley. Wellesley also has meeting spaces for Asian Americans, Latin@s, LGBTQ, and other ethnic/cultural groups. Pretty standard on campuses these days.

Fixed the reference in the original post.

I think it's also worth nothing that Harambee is not on the main college road. I think off-campus yahoos would have to purposely seek it out.

Ms. Hou's post showing the one kid's LinkedIn profile was boss. That's going to come up each time he applies for anything. It might or might not matter, but it was giving it back in a way that was thoughtful.

Incidentally, before the "safe space" critics, etc. come out, Wellesley College is private property and can be regulated as such.

In a different vein, however, I think that I have seen this truck (with its conspicuous plate) speeding around town. Now that I know who it is, I might be inclined to make a bit of mischief of my own for these guys - certainly I will mention it to my friends on both the Wellesley PD (which, I remind all of you, is commanded by that patriot and Great American Chief Terrence Cunningham ) and the Babson PD.

Attention visitors: you act like this around here, the good people of this Commonwealth will make you own it. In a big way.

It's a bad habit to say something on the internet you can't say in person. Maybe when you figure that out you will understand why you lost.

Are you accusing him of false bravado on the internet, without evidence, while you are yourself acting like a Big Internet Tough Guy, thus making you hilariously hypocritical? Or is this you trying to posture and say "Why don't you say it to my face" in the grand old spirit of "Come at me bro?" If it's the former, great, be about your business while the rest of us laugh at your braggadocio. If it's the latter, then you should realize that this is Massachusetts, chuckles, and Trumpism ain't king here.

You're gonna have to be a little clearer about just how you're making a horse's ass of yourself today, guy. We're apparently living in post-ironic times.

Stop attacking each other.

It's bad for your mental health. Doing it on the internet is probably worse because it gets you all riled up and you get no release.

Since they know who these jerks are, hopefully they will either be kicked out of Babbo or sent crawling back to give a 12 hour seminar on tolerance at Wellesley.

How is it any different than what college kids were doing yesterday at the State House? Protesters yesterday were claiming im a Nazi and/or KKK member because i dint vote for their candidate....

these guys are actually threatening the well-being of minorities, in a way that's been threatened and acted upon for the entire history of the country and has clear legal implications. The protesters calling you names aren't threatening to come lynch you; they're calling you names. If you don't want to get branded as a Klansman, don't vote for the guy with David Duke's seal of approval. But if you do get branded a Klansman, I'd venture to say it's not going to make much of a difference in your life.

You people put out stuff that others have accused these boys of....the only facts are that they drove around campus hooping and hollowing "make our country great again" with a Trump flag flying in the rear of their pickup trucks....that they stopped the truck in front of the House on Campus and a student told them to leave...who alleges the boys spit at her? I doubt that. All the other accusations are just that. And, if this is all, you will have a tough time proving hate crimes, etc. vs. freedom of speech.

Fact is, though, that, yes, speech has consequences. Their frat kicking them out was not a violation of their First Amendment rights because, as I'm sure you know, the First Amendment covers government actions. That other people find them reprehensible and juvenile, well, they have First Amendment rights, too.

Private versus public property.

Nobody went to where you live and yelled those things/physically threatened you with a truck.

African students exclusively?

Are Haitian students segregated elsewhere?

If it's anything like the Themed Housing we had where I went to college (another state, private university), they're there to serve a purpose.

We also had some portions of residence housing that groups of people could sign up to try to get for themselves and had to be re-requested yearly. In one example, a group from the swim team.

In the former, they were folks from other countries, yes.

In the former, they were folks from other countries, yes.

Africa is a continent.

Given the state of our education system these last Kennedy-era years or so, I can understand the confusion on the part of segregationist college admins. I would like to know, however, if white South Africans are segregated further from the African houses on campus.

If they are truly segregating kids by their continents, I would think the Asian housing is not as a happy place as your average segregationist would be led to believe.

All of your faux outrage is for naught, I am afraid. It isn't a dorm at all but simply a meeting place used by African/African-America students/groups, so all of your triggered comments are moot.

So then do the Haitians have a different segregated meeting place? The official college website is not too helpful on explaining how they racially segregate their meeting places.

who is doing the segregating?

Would the sizable percentage of this country that wants to Make America White Again act any differently had their candidate lost? I think they'd be out in even greater droves as they would feel more oppressed.

I do hope these two individuals will be readily findable by any future employer doing pre-employment web research. If there's a way to ensure that it would be the best way of dealing with this type of behavior and perhaps remediate it.

Not going to dox but their families are well connected. No problems with future employers. They may even work in the family business. I wish there would be consequences...

I'm really asking. These guys have since been cleared of any hate crimes or violation of the Babson honor code. I understand that doesn't necessarily mean they definitely didn't commit the crimes but we've seen far too many faked hate crimes since the election that were made up or committed by POC themselves. I have seen POC lie about white oppression first hand. The fact that the Wellesley women are POC is not a reason to believe them over the Babson students. POC do not have any moral authority just from being POC.

So if all the guys did was drive around Wellesley in a pick up Trump shouting Trump slogans they should be unemployed for the rest of their lives? I don't think so. I am very glad that all potential employers don't know anything about what I got up to in college. None of it was as obnoxious as this but these days you never know when employers will not want you because of some picture you posted to social media. Glad everything from my college days is offline.

(And for the record, I'm a liberal POC who voted for Hillary.)

That these guys went to Wellesley College to specifically taunt African students?

Yeah, when I think of Wellesley College after a Hillary Clinton trainwreck, the first thing that leaps into my mind is African Students. I mean, that's what the place is prominent for, right?

Couldn't be that they went there because of the Clinton/Wellesly connection, and there happens to be a dorm associated with African Students there, right? That doesn't fit the narrative, so spike that one.

You can trust the Globe on this one. They're not like the other media outlets.

Regardless of who is president or president-elect, the kind of behavior described by the Globe and the Facebook posts is reprehensible. Adam is showing the subjects of the article more respect than they deserve. Bigotry and racism is bigotry and racism and should be named as such.

Out there hatin' for Trump
Just as dumb as two stumps
gonna bite at their rumps
Till the day they pass on

Spittin' at blacks
Next could come Jews
Someday they might win an interview
Their background will lose

Makin' their way
To the country club set
But there's just a couple of things
That the web won't forget.

Thank y'all for comin' to my concert.
I'd like to dedicate this song to Edward Tomasso and Parker Rander-Riccardi
And to their parents, who must be so proud.

I've always said it:freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to be an asshole. If you throw the first punch, expect a swing back. These cretins are likely uneducated voters who wouldnt know the Bill of Rights if it came labeled on a can of shitty Budweiser beer.

Sigma Phi Epsilon has tossed the two guys who pulled the stunt:

The actions of these two men are abhorrent to our members, alumni and staff, and in no way represent SigEp’s values and aspirations for diversity and inclusion.

SigEp’s Babson College Chapter took immediate action and expelled both members. SigEp expects every member to model the way for others in their community. This type of abusive, misogynistic behavior has no place in our society, and we’re proud of our chapter swiftly removing these men from our organization.
