Our own SwirlyGrrl spotted this window on one side of the Old State House this morning.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nasty Lady wonders:
it's under 10 degrees F outside and I just drank a large @DunkinDonuts iced coffee. Do I get some kind of Boston merit badge?
Conclusion: At best, a Somerville merit badge, but definitely not a Boston one because she didn't get it with a foam cup (since Somerville has banned those cups).
A sterner judge, however, wouldn't give her even that:
no. Bostonians come out of the womb with a DD iced cup in their hands. It's just what's done.

Someone should draw a swastika in the frost. That will get people fired up.

Pretty sure that looks like the Old State House, not the actual State House...
Looks pretty though, and cold!

Yes, you're right: Old State House, not the, um, new one. Thanks, fixed.

If they ever build a new State House, then what will they call the current one?
The Old New State House, of course!

To some people, all State Houses look the same. Just like tunnel entrances.

What's the deal with iced coffee? I mean, I do love an iced coffee but I drink them too quickly so I prefer hot. In the middle of a heat wave I have to specify that I want the hottest coffee possible. Yes I'm from here, but in the summer months I always wish I were some place where hot was the default. If I just say "black coffee" that should always mean hot. (Side rant: it should also mean no, I don't want cream and sugar with that.)

Whether iced or hot, whenever I put in an order I find I need to specify which I want or else the employee looks at me funny. Although more often than not if I don't specify they default to hot.
Where does "black coffee" not mean no cream and sugar?

Half the time I think they're on autopilot asking about cream and sugar. Also recently, in response to my request for black
coffee I got "How many tea bags?"

confused if you order something special - and sadly, coffee without cream or sugar qualifies as a special order to most clerks these days. The usual response from them in such cases is what I term "the blank stare of doom."

I've always wondered why the default iced coffee at Starbucks is "sweetened", and I always have to specify unsweetened, especially since the customer is responsible for adding their own dairy, if desired.

Because iced drinks don't dissolve granular sugar very well, they use sugar syrup which does.

I always specify temperature immediately, i.e: "medium iced coffee, please" or "two medium hot coffees, please." Sometimes they'll assume "regular" or "cream and sugar" but esp. in the busy drive thrus they'll usually then ask how you take it.
Then I specify that. Lot of trial and error and wrong orders have led me to this method which seems to keep needless back and forth and mistakes to a minimum.
Just be careful when you ask for sugar

Of the "one-off" Warner Brother's characters, I've noticed that Michigan J. Frog gets the most attention. But IMO Pete Puma was far funnier.
