like Shirley and Dan are, you can't walk away from the challenge of disappointing readers on a weekly basis.

Where will they be moving to?

53 State St., to be exact.

"No, really, I've always respected the Herald's editorial stands, and I'd love to be part of the Herald's future!"

Any idea what Brian McGrory is doing in the pictures that Nick Cafardo has of him? It's gotta be something awful for him to still be employed by a relatively major publication.

I'm sure we can find them all jobs at public expense producing content no one wanted to begin with.

back in January obviously made the Globe management really, really grateful to all the little people on the staff.

Is anyone surprised who's ending up paying with their jobs for that fiasco?

I hope Shirley Lung doesn't get canned. I"ll miss her terribly.

And yes, please. But it really should be a proper firing, rather than a buyout/layoff.

Adam, any historical numbers on layoffs over the years? Came across this 2007 Globe item just now in a search: "The Boston Globe reduced its newsroom staff by 24 people, or 6 percent, through a buyout that included several of its most prominent and longtime journalists, including two Pulitzer Prize winners, columnist Eileen McNamara and investigative reporter Stephen Kurkjian."

Which puts the pre-cut number right around 400 people total, which seems pretty astounding. Are there even 100 people left?

From Walter Robinson:

"In 2001, the Globe had 550 newsroom employees. Today we have barely 300."

The irony of the Hingham hating fake working guy shooting people out of the career cannon from the Winship Room seems appropriate.

How many educated, financially sound readers like me, canceled their subscriptions after the fake Trump front page? Dead silence, even from the "media critics" on Channel 2. When I called Morrissey Boulevard to cancel, I wound up connected with a lovely young lady in Manilla, Philippines. This was on a Dorchester phone number! So emblematic of the Globe's lies over the years. When I gained her confidence, after a long wait on hold, she told me told me "many, many" had called to cancel due to the fake Trump front page. No surprise to see John Henry and bride laughing at racist Democrat jokes the other night. God bless the mailers, pressmen and circulation staff. I had a beer with two the other day and they're getting their resumes ready at age 60. Heartbreaking. The Globe called for prison for Cardinal Law. Pot? Kettle?

Regarding the Trump front page: Too bad you can't take a joke

That's not the point. As a 30+ yr subscriber to the Globe - I expect more. If I wanted to read the Daily News, I would.

It was a mistake and I think they realized it pretty quick.

The Globe is looking for direction in a dying industry, so I'd expect more of that type of journalism but wouldn't cancel my subscription yet.

It was one page of satire in Ideas, the opinion section. If you can't give an opinion in the opinion section, what can you do?
