Don't blame me, I'm from Massachusetts. True then, true now.

Massachusetts voted for Clinton over Sanders. Big oops.

That election always reminds me of listening to WBCN the night of the election and hearing the late Danny Shechter (your news dissector) saying "The Nixon mudslide has begun...."

Mass wasn't alone this time:

Trump 31, America 19

And Clinton won the popular vote.

Trump 25.2
Hilary 25.4
Americans who didn't vote 42%

I believe in order to have a stronger country we need to ask why so many people feel so disgusted and disconnected with our politics.

I know I am. The rampant lying, low level corruption and collusion is disgusting. But I do vote.

car looks pretty haggard for a 6 year old vehicle. I know they didn't have RH side rearview mirrors but DAMN son.

a. Winters can be tough around here and this was before any kind of good finish system protecting against salt.

b. How do you know the damage was the fault of this car owner? Could have been hit by others and not have the money to repair.

That raised ridge above the rear plate holder makes it look more like a '62-66.

It was pretty dinged up when I bought it but the poor thing was also a victim of old-school Boston parking (go forward till you hit something, reverse until you hit something).

I actually caught someone locked onto the rear bumper at the RMV who was in the process of pulling it off my car with her own bumper.

My Dad tried to talk me out of buying it but it ran for years. I was a teenager. I loved that car.

A cop once pulled me over on Beacon Street to ask me if I was driving myself to the junkyard. I said no, and he let out a huge guffaw and drove away. Guess he needed a laugh. (It was the 70s).

Dings, a bit of rust, slightly saggy/warped bumper, the narrower taillights.... absolutely diagnostic of its era.

Makes me think of my Mom's beloved '61 Beetle.

Instead of rounded to a point like the 66 and earlier models. Plus the high back seats make it 67. 67 was the transition year with many crossover parts but the decklid is unique 67 only part. Still had the old style bumpers but the newer style headlights and fenders and upgraded to 12 volt electrical.
The rear passenger damage is indicative of the lack of a mirror on that side coupled with the life of a parallel parker in the city. Most of the dings on my 71 are there too

I miss those simple, old school license plates. What does "The Spirit of America" even mean?

They seem to be advertising a local radio station, WQTR or maybe WOTR? But I don't recognize the call letters at all.

John H. Garabedian's AM daytime-only progressive rock station. He signed off every night with 'Stairway to Heaven'.

Well it was progressive then.

that appears to be inside the back window, above the one about Nixon?

A friend of mine worked there, I think it was in Newton Highlands or Needham.

(Pete Townshend used ARP so I had to have the decal).

...Keith Emerson or Wendy (Wayne) Carlos didn't try to run you off the road.
