No biggie: Red Line driver puts out track fire at Charles/MGH

Smoke on the tracks at Charles/MGH on the Red Line

Kylejemge watched the driver of an outbound Red Line train get out of the train and put a fire extinguisher to good use just before Charles/MGH this afternoon:

Climbed back in and kept going.

Instead of fixing them properly, just have the train operators spray them with a fire extinguisher when passing by. — Problem solved!

They should just duct tape. fixes everything

And sometimes I feel like our transit system is held together with duct tape also... no real fixing, just band aids.

If it doesn't stick together and should, use duct tape.
If it sticks together and shouldn't, use WD-40.

Yes. And ignore all that SPN and ALEC Funding ... just blame unions and keep "starving the beast" and "drowning it in a bathtub".

I never said anything about the Union. Nor any MBTA employee. I AGREE with you, however.

Just trying to make a funny. But I do feel like some of these trains are held together by duct tape.

/snark

Sorry.

FTR, I have noticed occasional duct-tape "patches" on orange line cars that have rotted through in the corners of the outer shell. Shameful.

Just a local colloquialism(Gor the last 15 years).

Cable fire was at the other end of the station on the approach to the bridge. This was a small trash fire.

As a society, we love taking a picture, going on an indignant online rant, and screaming when things aren't perfect. It's kind of refreshing that someone's willing to apply some common sense, deal with an issue (even if fire fighting isn't in his contract) and move on.

I'd buy the guy a beer.

** Granted, if this was related to the T ignoring a larger maintenance problem, then that's another issue altogether.

Good thing the train didn't run the driver over.

Since the T treats their passengers like cattle, they should be reminded that Mrs O'Learys cow started the great Chicago fire.
