Suspicious package

Response to suspicious package. Photo by Josh Cronin.

Somebody left a suitcase at Mt. Vernon and Hancock streets, basically next to the State House. Declared not actually suspicious around 11:55 a.m.

So that's why I hear them.

In the news descriptions they always refer to suspicious looking packages, but once they are detonated or found not to be suspicious any longer, they do not describe what made the package look suspicious in the first place.

It was a suitcase, just sitting there.

At least some people had a nice helicopter ride on this beautiful day.

I think it's just any unattended package is a suspicious package, especially in areas with a lot of traffic, or right near sites of importance.

it is amazing this doesn't happen everyday.

(not talking about politicians, just the inability of people to keep trash under control.).

I've always said if you wanted to disguise a bomb in Boston, just make it look like trash. No one will ever say anything.

And once again it shows how irrational this nonsense is. You can find thousands of abandoned objects of a similar size all over the city - televisions, old CRT monitors, or just plain ordinary cardboard boxes - yet none of these are treated as suspicious.
