Take a rock, leave a rock in Somerville

Maria M. ran across an inspirational rock pile on the Somerville Community Path last week.

Not like people don't use that path to run/walk/bike in the dark.

Probably the work of one of the special people who think that the place to walk on that path is right down the center line. Sigh.

You should neither walk nor bike in pitch black darkness in the city... please use common sense and be safe.

This is a commuter way. People ride it to and from work. People walk on it to get to their homes when they take the T from work. It is lighted and there is an expectation that it will be used in the dark for people getting to and from their work.

You know - work? That thing people do to make a living. Work work. It doesn't just happen in the daylight, dear.

Unless you know the area or have the slightest understanding of city life, perhaps you should refrain from commenting? Maybe you should tell us where you live - I have a very large flowerpot that would look great on your street. Oh, what's that? Well, you shouldn't be driving in the dark!!!

And since you don't seem to know the area, you could maybe refrain from commenting, too, along with these other geniuses who don't know that:

1. This has been in place for weeks (since just after the election), so clearly isn't a big problem or would have been cleared long ago

2. It is not on the path itself (obvious to anyone familiar with the surface of the path there, even if you hadn't seen the pile itself), but off to the side where during warmer weather, there was a table and chairs (OMG PANIC!) and not in anyone's way.

I have to wonder how many of these complainers have passed by it without even noticing this huge hazard.

This is one of the stupidest comments ever uttered on UHub.

I thought these rocks were a sweet gesture. You do have to watch where you're walking, running and biking... it's just a part of life. There are obstacles all around us most of the time.

It would be fun to see how you reacted the last time someone or something obstructed a roadway for whatever reason.

This is a non-motorized vehicle/pedestrian roadway.

You know, to bark at by instinct, no?

The faux outrage about these inspirational rocks is off the charts. First world problems, indeed!
