In the comments on Reddit, the BPL was suggested as a possible destination. That seems like a great place for the public to be able to see this.

The article that is linked in this story also suggested BPL.

The Leventhal Map Center wasn't mentioned by name and, while housed at the BPL, is not under the BPL. It is not funded by the BPL or the city, but by the Leventhal Map Foundation. I know the director who recently retired, and she was the fundraiser for the center. A true gem in the city, though not necessarily as well known as it should be.

This would look great in my back yard. The public can look at it during cookouts.

That would be quite the display!

Hmmm....
New England map, big, impressive, would be nice to have a big impressive space to display it to full effect, maybe someplace where the public comes through...

Depending on what it would cost to take (or not) to remove from Globe HQ, maybe -

The New England Patriots could find or make a space at Patriot Place or one of the entrance halls to Gillette to install this New England map (i.e. a visually-striking map of their territory

I think we can figure out a better place than a mall. How about the busiest New England train station, South Station.

For some reason, I just don't think the style/décor of South Station these days is a good match for that map.

How about Union Station in Worcester? After all, the stonework is a better match and Worcester is the heart of New England.

oh, wait... am I showing my age with that phrase? Umm.... need something more hip and up-to-date... got it! "Paris of the 80s!!!"

oh, damnit....

It's lovely in there. Pity there aren't more trains.

Send it some place in NH, Maine or Vermont that needs a tourist novelty.

But what about in the Langham Hotel, the old Federal Reserve Building from whence it came?

The portion of the building it was in was demolished for the new-old State Street Bank tower next door.

Or perhaps Back Bay Station if they actually build what's been proposed.

South Station is a sea of visual blight aka "a mall." I imagine if they got desperate for somewhere to put it, it would be okay, but it deserves better.

Since it was the gateway to most of northern New England at one time. It might fit nicely somewhere on one of the waiting room walls.
