10 Roxbury St is a fully occupied residential building that was built last year. Maybe the fire is actually in a vacant building nearby?

The address they're giving is definitely 10 Roxbury, but maybe I misheard what a police officer said.

I'm in 10 Roxbury St. It's the building across the street.

You okay?

Thanks for the correction.

Yep! We're just having brunch, watching out the windows.

OK, so dumb question, do you happen to know the correct address?

I don't actually see a number on the building anywhere, sorry.

Is it 33 Roxbury Street? When I was a kid I used to loose my keys often and I would get replacements at Kelly & Brummitt. I can tell the fire is there because of that iconic green paint.

It is called Brummitt and Kelly.

Perhaps this is 31 and 35 Roxbury Street. Owned by someone who lives in Dedham, per the city assessing site.

Yup. Just checked same thing. The side where the firefighters are is 31-33 Roxbury St. It is attached to #35 (also vacant, small sq ft. same level of lack of exterior maintanence). All same owner.

Last time I walked by, it had the red and white slash sign on it indicating a structure that is dangerous to enter.

Hi,
31-33 is one building, it was not vacant. It was Sunday, so it was empty and not open. It houses a Locksmith Shop Brummitt-Kelly.

"Vacant" removed from headline.

Wasn't there some kind of locksmith shop in that building not that long ago? The building has looked empty for years but there was still a business on the ground floor at some point in the past 6-7 years.

The locksmith was still around. He's not open that much but as of a few months ago he was still in operations. He does a lot of locksmithing at different locations and then comes to the shop for a while - so the hours have been a little spotty. He has some great stories of Dudley in the old days. He inherited the shop from his father and claims that his family's locksmithing goes back to ancestors who were smiths on the Isle of Man. He was trying not to sell-out (the Guscotts next door were trying to get him to sell - part of their empire building plan of a huge building next door) -- but he had kids or grandkids that were looking at college expenses, so I imagine he might now cash out. Sad. Another piece of character sucked out of the n'hood.
