Driver hits pedestrian on Dedham Parkway at Boston line, keeps on going

A man walking on Dedham Parkway in Dedham, just past the entrance to the Georgetowne Homes development, was struck and seriously injured around 11:45 p.m. on Friday.

The car, described as a light-colored Nissan with heavy damage to its front windshield from the force of impact with the man, was spotted heading into Hyde Park and went past the Georgetowne entrance.

Dedham and State Police shut the road as a crime scene with help from the Boston police officer who first spotted the victim lying there.

I hope the person who was run down recovers and the person who used their car to cause harm is taken off the road.
With our laws only the first seems possible.

This situation is akin to people walking on train tracks or the middle lane of I-95 in Burlington where we should be asking why the pedestrian was there. But, sure the driver should have stopped. Likely either OUI or an unlicensed illegal immigrant.

There's no sidewalk. It is a 2 lane road with heavy woods on both sides. So if you have to walk that way, there is no where to walk except on the edge of the pavement. And the "other way around" adds several miles.
