Duckboats on Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m. - right in the middle of a storm

Mayor Walsh announced the Patriots victory parade will start at 11 a.m., which is just about when snow should be changing to rain from the storm the National Weather Service says should be smacking us right in the face on Tuesday.

A WINTRY MIX IS FORECAST WITH INITIAL SNOW DEVELOPING PRIOR TO DAYBREAK TUESDAY CHANGING TO RAIN ALONG THE COAST IN THE MORNING...

Remember how they delayed the 2015 parade by a day?

I'm hearing reports the Russians may have hacked the Superbowl on behalf of President Trump and friends Brady, Belechick and Kraft. Poison in the Falcon's Gatorade at Halftime? CNN is based in Atlanta, hopefully they're on it.

Sometimes people are just trying to be funny - trying to make other people laugh, which is highly admirable in my book - and don't need scolding, no matter how much their joking may offend you personally. Geez.

And I mean this as a defense of BOTH Cybah and O-FISH-L. Funny comment, funny response, from two folks who very rarely agree. Humor from both! The world needs more.

I'm sorry Suldog. I forgot to consider that you find such comments funny. I guess I was basing my views on having listened to a number of people who have psychiatric disabilities and have told me that saying someone needs to take psych meds is not an insult, and I was wanting to encourage people to listen and learn. But you're right. As long as the comments are funny to you, it doesn't matter how they affect actual people with disabilities. Carry on.

Keep laughing at, and stigmatizing mental illness, then wonder why people go fucking "nuts" instead of seeking the help they need.

Making jokes at the expense of marginalized people isn't funny. It's cheap, tired, and uncreative.

Wow, Fish, you still seem pretty defensive about the outcome of the Presidential election. You should really try and be a little more positive! Seeing as how I thought the guy you were supporting came out on top. You can talk to me, Fish. I know you've got some hidden feelings. Lashing out like this - it's a pretty typical response to fear suppression.

It's ok, you don't have to be scared. People say you can tell a lot about a man by how he treats someone he bests in competition. We're here to help you work this out.

I understand if the President and President-elect seem like 2 different people now, if you are upset that people that don't agree with his views and yours are speaking out. This is something that nobody is used to yet.

I think you'll find the reality of the situation is that, someone like Trump seeks out people like Brady, Bill, and the Pats organization because he is so obsessed with his image that he feels if he talks to them, then he can talk about talking to them and make them friends by proxy. Ever have a friend with a rich family growing up? Who nobody really liked but would always invite you over to go out on their jetskis and boats and play with their pool table and watch movies on their big TV? That guy is Trump.

Trump is now the President, but he's spent his whole life trying to prove that he is cool without all his stuff. But he's bought or had given to him most of his success. And guys like Brady and Bill, while they may respect him professionally, are doing what Trump does not have the capacity to do - remain humble in their success. So he can call and congratulate them, pen letters to Gillette stadium, claim through and through that they are all best buddies. But Tom, and Bill, and the rest of the team are too professional to use their EARNED success as a soapbox to stroke Trump's ego; which is all he really wants in the end.

do the patriots even make the super bowl if that patsies fan doesn't pull the fire alarm at the steelers hotel at 3am? a well rested steeler team would have taken the patsies out.

so first 3 superbowls = spygate
last one = defaltegate
this one = firealarmgate.

one of these days the patsies will win a super bowl without cheating...one of these days.

i meant its only been about 50 years!

You know very well how much you would gloat with condescending malice if the Patriots just break into resignation facing a 25 point deficit.

The Patriots had to deal with fire alarms too in the "deflategate" run. You don't give a single iota of credit that the Pats won regardless nor would ever says Seahawks is invalidated if the Pats lost.

Not to mention that the game itself is in he evening and thus just sleep in a little more for the 30 minutes of disruption.

Deaf ears, but take a look at yourself one day. You are filed with smug drivel of hate. A stream of comments of hating things to posture yourself as superior. You don't have to like sports or root for a Boston team, but take step back one day and think about why you you keep disdaining things you disdain. And why you "like" the things that you like.

Even in the later years, Menino seemed to want to minimize the costs/people that showed up to these things.

In this age it's a nightmare for the city on multiple fronts; security, cost, logistics, ect. Especially because it happens so often these last 15 years.

Sucks, but I get that.

whether one thousand people or ten thousand people show up. And, based on past years, the "hold the parade as soon as possible, regardless of the weather" mentality has NOT discouraged people from attending.

The only difference between holding the parade on a weekday and on a weekend is that the weekday parade inconveniences a lot more people.

up
Voting closed 0

has to be held as soon as possible after the winning game is such BS. If the players are so self-important that they can't stay around a few days to attend (the standard "excuse " for rushing the festivities), then perhaps they don't deserve all of their bloated salaries.

Its no big deal to experience a storm in New England in February. Life goes on. They deserve a parade ,and most of the people expect one. So what's the big deal?

up
Voting closed 0

They deserve a parade? That's a sad statement. Until they have a parade for every member of are armed forces returning from war, I would never say millionaire professional athletes that work for billion-dollar monopolies deserve a parade. Good grief.

up

especially this year, it is not necessary to hold the parade as soon as possible after the victory. Other cities have managed to figure this out, why not Boston?

Oh, but some of the players don't want to show up if we hold it next Saturday? The City should be ashamed of such a lame excuse for forcing the parade on us on a day when we're under a winter weather advisory.

on the commuter rail or the subway on the morning of one of Boston's victory parades. Even after all the previous times, the MBTA still can't seem to get their act together. And Walsh's mandate that the parade should be scheduled as soon as possible after the game to accommodate the players instead of scheduling it to best accommodate the fans and minimize the impact on ordinary people just trying to get on with their daily lives sure doesn't help matters much.

If the city and the team want people to actually watch the parade, it would make sense to put it off a day so that it isn't happening in pouring "wintry mix". I think I'll be skipping this one.

If you can't handle being outside for an hour or two in a little light snow turning to rain then don't attend. It's not the end of the world, I promise you. Plenty of other Patriots fans will be there from all over New England. You new to Boston? Ever seen one of these things before? People come out in droves regardless of weather conditions. Sheesh!

The parade is a celebration, for the team and the fans. Are you people really opposed to a little fun with all that's going on in the world? Jeez, Lighten up

up
Voting closed 0

But let's maximize that fun for everyone by scheduling it in such a way that most people can participate, and which minimizes the inconvenience to those who just want to go about their normal routine. Scheduling the parade for a normal weekday, where throngs of Pats fans are added to the normal rush hour load of people going to work and school does NOT accomplish that.

And people who point this out are not being Debbie Downers. Rather, they're simply applying good judgment and common sense.

up

in Boston is pretty much every day there's some 'fun' event that causes a lot of inconvenience. Boston is a busy city, most people by far have nothing to do with the tourism or hospitality industry, and need to get to work and back home, do necessary shopping, etc. Boston is not Disney World.

All commuter rail passengers should anticipate crowding and delays on Tuesday morning, 2/7, due to heavy ridership for the Patriots Parade.

The commuter rail will operate on a regular weekday schedule with added coaches on key trains. Ridership will be carefully monitored with additional trains on standby to be deployed to stations and lines as needed. Commuters may consider boarding early morning trains to avoid crowds.

Parade-goers are encouraged to carpool and use high capacity parking lots like Route 128, Dedham Corp and Anderson/Woburn. Mobile tickets can be purchased in advance from the MBTA's mTicket app. All tickets should be bought and activated prior to boarding.

and don't have to report back to work for almost eight months will be inconvenienced if we delay holding the parade to a day and time where it will not be an undue drain on the MBTA's ability to move their normal passenger load. But I guess that the City inflicting inconvenience to a large number normal people who actually need to get to work and school to accommodate an UNNECESSARY celebration is obviously unimportant to you.

And if you think that being unable to board not one, but THREE, commuter trains in a row (as has happened to me on more than one victory parade day), is a minor inconvenience, I'd be interested to hear what you consider a major inconvenience.

To quote David Epstein, preeminent weather forecaster, via Boston.com:

"The weather will be wet and raw, with temperatures in the 30s, when the parade gets underway Tuesday at 11 a.m. (Truthfully, why not postpone it until Wednesday, when it will be in the 50s with partial sunshine? But that’s not my call.)"

So, because Marty is an idiot, he will depress the turnout, make the maximum number of people as uncomfortable as possible, and make the event less joyous and less lucrative than it could be.

Nice going, Marty. PLEASE somebody competent run against him.
