Early morning crash kills one on Columbus Ave. near Jackson Square

That stretch of Columbus Ave was supposed to be part of the SW Expressway long ago. It's sad to see that it instead is basically still a six-lane highway masquerading as a city street. That intersection in particular is dangerous for all users.

I'm so sorry for the loss of life. But it seems strange: there is almost no traffic at that corner at 5am. There is almost no traffic in most of the city at 5am. And that is not a major intersection.
