Fabled Boston call signs could return to the air next year with new owner

WMEX Boston - Radio Aircheck - Don Parker 1961

Boston Radio Watch reports Ed Perry, the owner of WATD in Marshfield, has bought the rights to WMEX at auction and hopes to return the 1510 AM to the air, possibly with a mix of entertainment and news. But will Melvin X. Melvin return?

WATD (We Are at The Dump - In honor of where the transmitter is location) is a great local station with a great character. The programing is electric but not in the way the great WOMR in P-Town is run, which is run like a college radio station but with grown ups at the mike.

The inside of WATD is a throwback to a family run radio station that is independent of Ryan Seacrest / E Entertainment Programing / Fox News Scare Tactics. That being said the music is a bit milquetoast except at night, but the station probably makes enough money and it doesn't have to answer to a Wall Street person that wants specific national programing to satisfy a share price. A rarity in the market.

Listen to Chris Atwood make First Wave on Sirius look pathetic on Friday nights after Marshfield Basketball games.

Ed knows how to run a radio station and can make MEX work in whichever way it is programed, but first things first, sell those call letters to some station east of the Miss. that is in a growing Mexican American market. You'll make your money back pretty quick.

An online infographic of the Boston AM-FM-HD Radio Dial would make it easier for folks unfamiliar with radio to find interesting stations!... something better than the Hybridized Digital-analog HD Radio listings at https://hdradio.com/stations

Is Arnie Woo-Woo Ginsburg part of the deal?

The return of Michele (one L on Facebook!) McPhee to the airwaves?

How I've missed those mellifluous tones of hers bellowing into a microphone!. That voice alone sounds like a cat having it's balls squeezed in a vise.

Anyone know the final disposition of the charges regarding the cop she beat up? You know, friend to all law enforcement except when they're trying to keep her drunk ass from killing someone on the Expressway McPhee?

This is gossip....as she was never found guilty of this...and it never went to court. Can we stop with allegations unless they are based in fact?

The fact is that the incident did happen. Whether she was found guilty or not or if it went to court or not is irrelevant. It's not gossip if its a well known fact.

**The fact is that the incident did happen.**

All we know is she was pulled over. That's the only fact in this case.

Read the newspaper reporting on the event. She assaulted a Trooper and probably had it quashed by some married cop she was seeing, allegedly.

>> She assaulted a Trooper

She is "alleged" to have assaulted a police officer.

>>and probably had it quashed by some married cop

"Probably" is not fact.

Either way the world and the local airwaves have been spared her shrill caterwauling and she is enjoying being ignored completely.

Gossip, my balls. She was pulled over in her Mercedes SUV and attacked the Trooper who pulled her over while screaming the chant of the unknown moron, "Don't you know who I am?" and "I know people". Drunk.

Miss I love LEO's as long as they're not pulling me over for driving drunk.
