Teen indicted for murder outside a boys and girls club

A Suffolk County grand jury today indicted Tykorie Evelyn, 17, on charges he gunned down Khisean Desvarieux in front of the Orchard Gardens Community Center Boys and Girls Club in Roxbury on Jan. 9, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and Boston Police announced today.

Evelyn now faces trial as an adult on first-degree murder and gun charges for allegedly fatally shooting Desvarieux, 19, on Dearborn Street near Eustis around 7:30 p.m. Desvarieux made it into the Boys and Girls Club, where he collapsed. According to a statement:

A short time later and a short distance away, Boston Police observed Evelyn and attempted to speak with him; he allegedly fled and discarded a firearm before officers apprehended him.

The investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives on the street and Suffolk prosecutors in the Grand Jury proceeded carefully and methodically as investigators assembled physical evidence, witness statements, ballistics testing results, and other evidence supporting today’s indictments.

A date for Evelyn's arraignment has not yet been set.
