Dedham man charged with smashing bottle into another man's head at a Cambridge bar

Cambridge Police report arresting Brian Coakley, 25, of Dedham on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for an incident shortly after midnight on Sunday at a Cambridge Street bar.

Police say Coakley tried to settle an argument with another man by smashing a bottle over his head. Coakley then ran away, but was nabbed down the street, police say, adding his victim was taken to a Boston hospital with "severe lacerations to the face."

Innocent, etc.

The bar was The Rising on Cambridge Street.

I occasionally go to Atwood's so I'm wondering if it's that one (hope not)

My guess is maybe Thirsty Scholar? It's hard to imagine this happening at any of the bars on Cambridge St.

If something happened there, Somerville police would respond

....on Courtside. yeah, i honestly can't imagine much bottle-smashing happening at say....Wit's End or any of the Inman spots. anymore, anyway.

It's a little annoying how the Cambridge police log lists just the street where incidents occur. It could be a tiny dead end, or Mass Ave. Maybe it's in the name of privacy, but they should realize that if they can name a one-block-long street, they can also name which block of Cambridge Street this was.
