Great find, and honestly fascinating to scroll through! "Bicycle and Golf Clothing" appears to be big in Spring 1898.

I'm at this corner every other day. I'm pulling up Adam's/Archives pic next time I'm over there and sussing this out. Might have any of the railway development around this parcel led to the demise of this building? Was this on the path of the Charlestown Elevated?

A 1922 fire insurance atlas of Charlestown shows that there was still a large, curved-front wooden building at 516-522 Main Street, so presumably the Charlestown El did not lead to the demise of this building.

Many of the photos in this series were taken by the Boston Elevated Railway Co., before they began work on major projects, do document pre-construction conditions. Given the date and location, this photo does appear to be taken for that reason.

After the El was taken down in the mid-1970s, the intersection was reconfigured to make it more of a right angle, and the current fire station was built.
