Not a good day to be a Citizens Bank customer

Citizens Bank customers are flooding Twitter with complaints about the inability to access their money. Shortly after 4 p.m., the bank acknowledged a problem:

We're currently experiencing a technical issue that is impacting our ability to process certain transactions and access some online systems. Thanks for your patience as we restore service. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will post updates as they become available.

It doesn't surprise me that this has happened. I won't leave my money in a bank where the people who hold the keys are more than half a world away and can barely speak English.

This could be a sign of the end of times. Just sayin',

Patronize small, regional banks or credit unions, where there is local control over your money. You'll be better off.

just give it to your bartender for safekeeping. That way it’s always there when you need it.

for my irresponsible advice. You bartender does not pay interest, so this investment, while secure, does not provide an adequate hedge against inflation. You should diversify your portfolio. Give half to your bartender, and half to your bookie.

My citizens account got hacked last night. As soon as I get my money back and everything straightened out I'm leaving them for good. This is the second time this year this has happened to me.

Had issues with Citizens Bank account security - interested to see if you had the same issue. They blame someone getting our card but no one ever did. I think Citizens Bank was hacked. What are your thoughts?

Three weeks ago there was an order placed online using my card information. I didn't place the order. The company flagged as a fraudulent purchase. I received a brand new card with a totally different #. Today I found 2 more charges for online orders that I did not make. Someone in Brooklyn NY did. How did they get my brand new card # in 3 weeks. I carry that card on me at all times.
