Picking up some takeout at Jamaica Pond

Late yesterday afternoon, this hawk sat in a tree on the Jamaica Pond shore along Parkman Drive. Oh, look, it has some dinner. After about 30 seconds of me taking its photo, it had enough and flew off, with dinner, right in front of a runner on the path.

If someone can train a hawk to hunt down the squirrels that are chewing up my gutters and attic, I am willing to pay $50/head.

A hawk picked apart and cleaned the bones of a squirrel on my deck the other night. Left behind the inedible furry tail and other pieces of entrail evidence. The hawk’s not trained though, as far as I know!
