Red Sox get no hit

Does this mean everybody who bought a couch at Jordan's has to pay double?

No Hitter
It only takes one game!
This season if the Sox pitch a No Hitter after July 17 all of your furniture and mattresses will be free. And this year you can also get up to 60 months no interest with equal payments. No minimum. Subject to credit approval. So if you need furniture or a mattress, now is the time to buy.

Everyone who bought furniture already does not have to pay double.

They just have to buy furniture for me.

Is sports betting legal? Because this sounds like sports betting.

My understand is with Jordan's, you're still buying the furniture as normal. Jordan's can decide to rebate you or write off your payments for just about any reason it feels like, assuming no discrimination. The transaction is the furniture and Jordan's can move unilaterally to comp you.

With betting, you're paying money solely with the promise of getting that money plus extra contingent certain circumstances. There transaction is the bet and nothing more.

Now, I wonder if this interpretation allows a loophole where I say, buy a $20 beer but get comped if I predict the winning horse, plus a round on the house for good cheer.

...because comping drinks is illegal in the state of Massachusetts, unless you're a multibillion-dollar casino enterprise.

Funny how that works.

This, of course, has nothing to do with Jordan's or the Sox or anything, but, there is a loophole.

No, a bar can't just comp you a beer. BUT: A beer distributor can come into a bar, set up a table, and hand out beers that are free to the lucky consumers - provided they've purchased the beers from the bar (and can show the receipt when they get the inevitable visit from the licensing cops). Where you might get into trouble is if you pair that with a game (like, oh, beer pong), because that does go too far in Massachusetts. But otherwise, saying that if the Sox win tonight, a free beer for everybody? Might work, subject to the above (of course, I Am Not a Lawyer; consult with your counsel before you try anything like that).
