Roslindale Square to get low-key tattoo parlor

Tattoo parlor to be in Roslindale Square

Building where the tattoo parlor will go.

The Board of Appeals yesterday inked its approval of a Malden man's proposal for a tattoo parlor at the corner of Washington and Corinth streets in Roslindale Square.

Sokiri Sin's Ink Gallery will fill the now empty 1,274 square feet of space above Romano's.

He told the zoning board he would employ up to five artists and would be open until 8 p.m. on weeknights - with reduced hours on the weekends.

His attorney, Scott Holmes, said the business would be a perfect complement for Roslindale Square. Because most of its visits would be before or after the workday, it wouldn't cause any parking or traffic problems in the sometimes almost congested square. He added that Sin and his inkers will work by appointment only - and will not put up any neon or other garish signs to disturb the "vibrant, wonderful area" that is Roslindale Square.

Holmes said Sin fell in love with the space months ago - to the point of paying rent beginning in January. He added that Holmes spent several Saturdays at the Roslindale Square farmers' market talking to people about the shop and soliciting their approval.

Roslindale currently has one tattoo parlor, on Belgrade Avenue near Walworth Street.

as long as he doesn't tattoo any corporate logos onto people. People in Roslindale get very mad about corporations.

I noticed on Zillow the other day that there is a (beautiful) single family behind the library on Poplar listing for $999k.

I can only hope this tattoo parlor doesn't drive away the prospective buyer for what I assume to be Roslindale's most expensive home ever?

$1m to live in Roslindale. The mind boggles.

There's a house for sale on the West Roxbury Parkway for 150K more, which is a five-month gut and flip half the size of the historic beauty on Poplar. That should boggle your mind even more.

They claim to have added $500k in value in a renovation? Better have gold plate appliances.

To be clear, the house on Ardale is a beauty and I don't begrudge anyone for wanting to live there but... $1m is a lot of cash money to live on a busy corner with no yard to speak of.

My mind is thoroughly boggled.

This business on Belgrade Ave and Walworth Street is never open and I left numerous messages on answering machine and never get a return call.
Hope the new business in Roslindale Square will be more customer friendly.f
