Two displaced in West End fire

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire on the 12th floor of 9 Hawthorne Pl. this morning was confined to a single apartment, but resulted in water damage to the 12th and 11th floors.

The department estimates the fire, to which firefighters responded around 8:15 a.m. in the building in the "If You Lived Here" complex, displaced two residents and caused an estimated $20,000 in damage.

The cause remains under investigation.
