Brockton man charged with Jackson Square shooting

Boston Police report arresting Abdirahman Abdi, 25, of Brockton, on charges he shot another man during a robbery at Columbus Avenue and Ritchie Street around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say gang-unit officers arrested Abdi around 3 p.m. today, not far from the scene, at Center and Wyman streets in Jamaica Plain.

Abdi was initally charged with attempted murder, armed assault to rob, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Police add that, following his arrest, they searched an apartment at 46 Weaver Ct. and found "a Glock 17 Gen 4 firearm, reported stolen out of Georgia, loaded with sixteen rounds of live ammunition and 115 grams of a white, powdery substance believed to be crack cocaine separated into multiple plastic bags." Because of that, they added charges of possession of a large-capacity feeding device, trafficking more than 100 grams of Class B drugs and receiving stolen property.
